Dr. Shughart has published numerous books and scholarly articles and is an active consultant, also serving as an expert economist in matters before federal courts and the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Before joining the faculty at Utah State University, he was a professor of economics at the University of Mississippi, an associate professor of economics and research associate at the Center for Study of Public Choice at George Mason University, a member of the Department of Economics at Clemson University, an economist and special assistant to the director of the Federal Trade Commission, and a systems analyst for the Center for Naval Analyses.
