Indian Gaming Industry Report Praised in Gaming Law Review News Feed

August 30, 2017—In the latest issue of the Gaming Law Review, the annual Indian Gaming Industry Report authored by Nathan Associates Principal Economist Alan Meister, Ph.D. received a glowing review from Kevin Washburn, Regents Professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law and former Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs of the U.S. Department of the Interior during President Obama’s Administration.

Washburn’s review praises the extensive research included in the Report, calling it “serious data presented with commentary and thoughtful insight” and “a vivid and methodical presentation of the material.” With the inclusion of recent and historical Indian gaming data, market summaries and analyses, a nationwide economic and fiscal impact analysis, and discussions of challenges and opportunities facing Indian gaming, he concluded that the “report fills an important niche in the data-driven industry.”

“The report is likely to be most valuable to casino vendors, marketers, and casino operators, and also state and tribal policymakers and planners, state and tribal compact negotiators, academics, investors, and even news organizations,” Washburn says, adding that the report “is loaded with significant and meaningful information for those conducting in-depth market analysis or research”.

Over the past 17 years, Dr. Meister has conducted extensive research and analysis of the gaming industry, including Indian gaming, commercial casinos, card rooms, and iGaming. His scholarly and consulting work has been used in business planning and operations, public policy, regulatory, and litigation matters.
