Analysis of Customers’ Savings Behavior, 2008-2010

Nathan India analyzed the savings behavior of customers of one of India’s largest private sector banks. Working with statisticians from the National Council for Applied Economic Research (NACER), our economists designed and conducted a pan-India survey of 3,000 customers to form demographic, economic, and behavioral profiles. Nathan India and NCAER then combined data from the survey with data on each customer’s transaction with the bank and conducted advanced statistical analysis that helped the bank (1) understand why customers hold balances in different types of accounts and (2) make strategic decisions for future growth.
